Meet Marshall

25 Years of Hospitality, One Dream Realized

Marshall copy (1)

I’ve been in hospitality for over 25 years. I’ve worked just about every front-of-house role you can imagine — and through all of it, one thing has always been true: I love making people feel welcome. Not just comfortable. Not just served. Actually, genuinely welcome. Like they belong somewhere.

That instinct carried me to a tasting room right here in Woodinville, where I built the events calendar, put operations in place, and watched something really special take shape. Murder mystery dinners. Live music. Craft nights. Events that brought total strangers together around a table and sent them home as friends. I poured everything I had into that space — and it worked.

But somewhere in the middle of all of it, I kept coming back to the same thought: What would this look like if it were mine?

It wasn’t about ego. It was about vision. I knew there was a version of this that went even further — a place that didn’t just follow a formula but had its own personality. Its own heartbeat. A tasting room that reflected the things I actually care about: community, warmth, a little bit of fun, and genuine connection.

The Vision

A Place With Its Own Heartbeat

Woodinville made sense from the start. It attracts people who care — about craft, about experience, about more than just checking a box on a wine tour. I knew the market, I knew the community, and I knew what I wanted to add to it: a destination that felt different the moment you walked in. Somewhere with real energy. Somewhere you’d want to come back to — not because you had to, but because it felt good to be there.

I wanted live music on the weekends and craft nights during the week. I wanted a wine club people felt proud to be part of. I wanted comedy shows and murder mystery dinners and events that had people asking about the next one before they’d finished the first. A full calendar of reasons to show up — and a space warm enough that people would find their own reasons, too.

I won’t pretend opening Freebush Cellars was the easy choice. It would have been simpler to keep doing great work inside someone else’s vision. But I’d spent enough time building things I couldn’t call my own. I had the experience, the relationships, and a clear picture of what I wanted to create. All I needed was the courage to do it.
So I did.

Freebush Cellars is everything I’ve learned packed into one space — every shift, every event, every guest who walked in a stranger and left wanting to come back. It’s 25 years of showing up for other people, finally showing up for myself.

And I can’t wait for you to see it.

The Pack

And Then There Are the Dogs

Addison, Amour, Bear, Boe, and Frenchie aren’t just a marketing idea — they’re part of who I am. They set the tone for everything Freebush Cellars is supposed to feel like: a little unconventional, completely genuine, and always glad you’re here.

There’s also something bigger that matters to me. A portion of what we do goes back to the local Humane Society, because this community has given me a lot and I want to give something back. That’s not a tagline — it’s just the right thing to do.
